International Professional Basketball Coach Cody Toppert Returns to Albuquerque to ELEV|8 the Next Generation of 505 Basketball Players

On Saturday October 19th former Albuquerque City Basketball Player of the Year (2001), Cody Toppert will return to Albuquerque to bring a weekend of high energy, high impact basketball learning to the next generation of New Mexico basketball players as he directs the 505 Elite Skills Clinic and Top 100 Showcase at Cibola High School. After completing his extensive professional playing career that saw him compete in 12 different countries on 3 continents around the world, Cody was hired by world renowned NBA trainer Ganon Baker (trains LeBron James, Amare Stoudemire, Kevin Durant etc.), to join him as the Director of Basketball Operations and Lead Trainer at ELEV|8 Sports Institute. Known as a prolific shooter, relentless competitor and insatiable worker Cody managed to put together one of the great individual careers in the history of Cornell University prior to playing professional all over the world.
Cody is known as one of the top up and coming trainers in the nation and trained 5 players invited to the 2013 NBA Pre Draft Combine for the top 60 draft eligible players (most of any NBA trainer). This included Shane Larkin (University of Miami), 2nd Team AP All-American, 1st Team All-ACC, tested 1st in Vertical Leap- 44”, 1st in 3/4 Court Sprint – 3.08, 2nd in Bench Press at the combine. Cody also trained Kenny Kadji (University of Miami), Adonis Thomas (Memphis), BJ Young (Arkansas) and Robert Covington (Tennessee State).
In addition to running the ELEV|8 NBA Pre Draft program which produced Shane Larkin with #18th selection of the 1st round, Cody assisted BAM and the NBA with the 2013 NBA Pre Draft Combine where he worked with NBA Assistant coaches, strength coaches and team personnel. Cody and Shane followed extensively during the pre draft process by NBA TV for a feature on the up coming series “Rooks, Path to the Draft”.
Cody has directed many elite high school events and joined Ganon at the Nike Skills Academies for the top high school players in the nation. He has directed the Texas Hoops Combine, a clinic with over 250 participants and ran on behalf of Rivals and Mike Kunstadt, he has directed the National Girls Skills Select Clinic, Co-directed the Junior National Skill Advancement and joined Ganon on the floor at the 2013 NABC Coaches Convention at the Final Four. Cody was also selected, along with Ganon and Alan Stein, to contribute to a Complex Magazine Article as one of the top trainers in the business.
Cody is incredibly excited to bring an Elite basketball learning experience to the ABQ high school stars of today and provide them with a perspective on what it takes to make it at the next level and beyond. (SEE PICTURES BELOW)
